January Library Happenings
Some January Dates to remember: 1 Happy New Year’s Day;
Science Fiction Day; 6 First use of the telegraph; 11 Amelia Earhart Day; 18
Winnie the Pooh Day; 21 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; 27 Chinese New ear- The
Year of the Ox. January is also the
month to remember Black History, Blood Donors, Crime Stoppers, Hobbies, Letter
Writing and Stamp Collecting.

Holiday Hours: During Winter Break, the library will be
closed all day New Year’s Eve and New Years Day. The library will be open regular hours on all
other days during the break.
BOOK SALE on Friday, January 2nd and Saturday, January 17th. The Friends of the library have a book sale on the first Friday and the third Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Night is at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. Join us at the library as we
celebrate Chinese New Year! “Wear red

The library will open 1 hour late at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9th
for Staff Training.
GED CLASSES. Next class at the library is from February 10th
to April 2nd, 2009.
VOTER
REGISTRATION. Voters may register at the
library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ask for Jeanne or Denise. When a person
registers to vote, they must show two types of identification, one must have
their current address, and they must present a photo I.D. It is also required
to use the social security number (at least the last four digits) or the
drivers license number.
LIBRARY BOARD MEETING. The library board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm (unless noted otherwise). The public is encouraged to attend as plans for the future of the library are discussed.
GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING. First Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm (unless noted otherwise). For more information about the Troy Genealogical Society, visit our Genealogy page.
